skywriting all the disappearing words between us
Recently, I was awarded a second-place prize in the Kusamakura Haiku Competition sponsored by the city of Kumamoto for my one-line haiku (monostich). Now in its 17th year, the contest is open to haiku poets throughout the world.
There were eight second-place (Tokusen) awards given, as well as a Grand Prize, a “City of Waters” Prize, and 20 third-place awards. You can read haiku by current and past award winners at the Kusamakura website. I am honored to be included in such fine company.
