Cabin fever . . .

cabin fever
another axe to grind
with my husband

Not really.  Although he’s keeping himself occupied with rearranging several parts of the house–which is somewhat frightening.  Me, on the other hand, I’m sleeping a lot.  Who knows what I’ll find when I wake up.

my dream . . .
dust motes morphing
into snow

About Margaret Dornaus

I’m a writer and a teacher, as well as a haiku-doodler. I live in a beautiful woodland setting, surrounded by native oak forests, that inspires me to record haiku snapshots of luna moths and our resident roadrunner, and even an occasional black bear as it hightails it across the top of my road, my mongrel dog barking at its heels as I watch with wonder. My work as a travel writer has appeared in publications from The Dallas Morning News to the Robb Report. You can find examples of my travel writing–as well as excerpts from a travel memoir I’m working on–at my other WordPress site, Travelin’ On. What more than that do you need to know? Only that I started this blog with an eye toward collaboration. Got a haiku? Send it my way. . . . I’m all about new visions & voices. Best, Margaret

I like the second haiku, Margaret. It hints at magic, the kind we don’t need skills to make it happen–like your haiku, ‘waking up to find the motes…snow’!

  2. ha. aloha Margaret – i like the 2nd ku a lot too. it seems to me that it’s tricky to get a dream into ku sometimes. to me this works really well because it is how i feel the dream when i awaken. …my dream… i like that.

yeah, i was a little concerned there for a moment for your husband. . . you and Melissa sometimes bring out great ku that jolts me into yikes until i can confirm that it is visioning ku – then it pings me and i’m at quite okay with that ah ha.

yeah, i can see how waking up you might find yourself in a completely new place with your husband off arranging while you sleep…! yikes. magic. …of course… that’s actually what happens every time we wake up, yes? bwahahahahaha.

    the dream
i never wake where i went to sleep
    this morning

  3. I like the first one the best. 🙂 But then that’s probably just the bloodthirstiness in me. 🙂
